The MCCQE Part 1 is a computer-based medical licensing exam conducted by the Medical Council of Canada. It evaluates a candidate’s medical knowledge and clinical decision-making skills necessary for entry into supervised medical practice in Canada.

The exam is administered by the Medical Council of Canada (MCC), a national organization that assesses medical graduates for Canadian licensure.

MCCQE stands for Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination.

It’s designed to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and clinical judgment expected of Canadian medical graduates.

All Canadian and international medical graduates who want to practice medicine in Canada must pass this exam.

The exam includes 210 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and 38 clinical decision-making (CDM) cases, completed over one full day.

It’s approximately 7.5 hours long, with scheduled breaks between the MCQ and CDM sections.

Topics include medicine, pediatrics, surgery, psychiatry, obstetrics & gynecology, and population health & ethics.

You must be a graduate or near-graduate of a recognized medical school, listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.

You need to create an account on the Physiciansapply.ca portal, submit required documents, and then register for the exam.
